Hi Wanakee

Since the pinkness the patches around my eyes on my cheek bones are re-pigmenting.

My patches all over are still pink.

On the VSIG list, Amy writes:

I have a daughter who is now 13. She has had vit since she was four. It seems to run in my family. My cousin has it and my niece does as well. We first tried steroid creams as the doctor told us to and had no success. In fact, it seemed to spread like wild fire as I used the cream. I was SO disheartened. Tried 2 more docs who had very little info so I began researching myself on the web. I first read Emily's vitiligo and got a bit hopeful although his approach seemed SO time consuming and a bit extreme. Then I found this site and have been trying various things I read about here .I give my daughter chewable vitamin B-12( her friends love them too!) , distilled water, and apply a mixture of vitamin E and PABA to her white patches. In the last few years she has had tremendous freckling and filling in. The doctors seem to think it is just naturally "reversing itself" But I think it is all the things we have been doing. Also we take seaweed baths and vitamins baths and use the anit-vitligo oil. We don't do anything religiously and most of all my daughter has always had the best attitude, never self-conscious . So my advice is to try different things, never loose hope. Don't believe the pigment cells are "dead" They aren't.

Best of luck and keep a positive attitude.

Optimum Brain Health

Brain Health

How to potentially improve memory, grow new brain cells and prevent brain related illness.

Research shows that brain health may potentially improve with proper nutrition and supplementation. Mental health issues, such as depression, bipolar and schizophrenia, are all linked to low Omega 3 fatty acids and other nutrients, research shows. We have moved further and further from the hunter – gatherer diet of our ancestors and are sorely lacking in the all important Omega 3 fatty acids that comprise the fatty tissue in our brains.  Our brains, however, have not evolved to healthfully cope with these relatively modern dietary changes, dominated by a much higher Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio. The Paleolithic (caveman) diet was rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, consumed in wild game meats that fed on wild vegetation, rich in Omega 3 fatty acids; fresh fish; fruits; vegetables and nuts. Scientists say the Omega 3 rich diet allowed our brains, and therefore our species, to evolve. The further we've gotten away from this hunter/gatherer diet, the more diseases seem to follow, for our brains have not evolved to accommodate the Omega 3 poor diets adopted in modern societies. (Stoll, 2001)

To learn more about brain health and how you can potentially improve your memory,  mental health, grow new brain cells and boost oxygen to your brain with supplements and dietary changes, write wanakee@thewellnesswell.net to schedule a free 10 minute consultation.

Kee’s Health Tips ©
Kee’s Health Tips ©December, 2009
With so many clients suffering with GERD, I decided to devote this newsletter to the topic. Health begins in the gut. A healthful, balanced diet is the key to a healthy digestive system. Digestive health is compromised when we eat the wrong foods or the wrong combination of foods. Eating too fast and not chewing properly allows food to enter the digestive tract improperly broken down. Excess water when eating dilutes the stomach acids. Overeating taxes the entire digestive system. (Tierra) An acidic diet is harsh on the system, creating an acid-alkaline imbalance in the blood. Highly refined foods may be responsible for GERD, or Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disorder. An acidic diet is one that is heavy in sugar, refined foods, coffee, meats and low nutrient pre-packaged foods. High acidity in the blood encourages low acidity in the stomach. Low stomach acid may be the ultimate culprit in GERD and other digestive problems. Betaine hydrochloric acid from beets, lemons, mineral water, land and sea vegetables, herbal teas, sea salt, brown rice, miso, fruits, fruit juices, agave and honey, are foods that may help to increase alkalinity and improve digestion.
Why You Should Avoid Antacids and Work Toward a Cure
The prescription medications Prilosec, Nexium and others are often given to those suffering from GERD. These drugs can completely shut off gastric acid production in the stomach. Drugs may relieve the symptoms temporarily, but the consequences of interrupting the normal digestive process are dangerous. Gastric acid is a good thing; it kills bacteria, helps release nutrients from food and helps break down proteins. Antacids neutralize the acid that is in the stomach; the body realizes this serious change in PH and responds by producing even more acid. Even when the antacid is out of you system the stomach is working overtime, making more acid than it needs. Poor digestion takes a heavy toll on your body; incomplete breakdown of proteins puts a burden on the liver and kidneys, creating allergens, and you are robbed of unabsorbed nutrients. You are not what you eat, you are what you digest and absorb! Taking antacids and prescription medication all result in poor digestion. Proton pump inhibitors like prevacid and Prilosec and the H2 blockers like Tagament, Pepcid, and Zantac are some of the worst drugs you could possibly take. (Retrieved on November 29, 2009 from http://www.timpitts.com/AcidRefluxGERDprotocol.pdf)
I recommend apple cider vinegar before meals; aloe vera juice nightly; apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar or red wine vinegar and olive oil salad dressing, lemon and olive oil salad dressing; bitters; and eating a salad before lunch and dinner as methods of enhancing digestion. I also recommend Doctor’s Best Enzyme formula and Doctor’s Best Betaine hydrochloric acid, Bitters and Pepsin capsules before meals. Aging, disease and immune dysfunction deplete the body of digestive juices and enzymes necessary for proper digestion and health. Malabsorption, ulcers, cancers and declining health are often the fallout.
Glandular therapies may offer nutritional support for thyroid; pancreas and adrenal health. All of these glands affect digestive and metabolic processes in the body.
The thymus gland shrinks from age 3 on, and is lacking Thymic Protein A completely by age 50, research shows. Thymic Protein-A, which strengthens immunity and relieves fatigue and digestion promoting teas are available at

Kee's Health Tips(c) Is cancer a fungus?
Kee’s Health Tips© November 2009Is Cancer a Fungus? Is cancer a fungus? Research and an Italian doctor's thesis suggest that cancer is a fungus, which responds to anti-fungal, anti-Candida therapy, including iodine, baking soda therapy and other natural methods of ridding the body of fungus.

Cancers have responded well to vitamin C intravenous therapies as well, research shows.

Currently, clinical trials are underway and the results are very promising. Reducing Candida and other funguses and parasites in the body may potentially help to ward off diseases such as cancer.  Prevention is key. A healthful diet, sunshine, deep breathing, meditation, detoxification and stress free living are all shown to help balance the body so that it is able to prevent disease, as well as to heal and repair itself.  Boosting the immune system with iodine rich foods such as sea vegetables and adding antioxidant rich foods such as fruits and vegetables that are in season, local and preferably organic, are potentially powerhouse methods of warding off illnesses and may potentially benefit those with autoimmune diseases.  In my practice, as part of my overall anti-aging program, I recommend diet, supplements and lifestyle changes tailored to each client, which may potentially ward off cancers and other degenerative and auto-immune diseases. Visit www.thewellnesswell.net or contact me for more information.  I am really pleased with the response to my request for clients in Wanakee’s 6 weeks to a leaner you program. I will offer a 2nd session of the program at the introductory rate of $99. The recommendations tailored to each client to potentially help to increase lean body mass and to help overcome the effects of aging, hormonal changes, inflammation and other deterrents to a healthful weight are a lifestyle change that may prove beneficial to maintaining a healthful weight as you age, overcoming illnesses, as well as lessening chances of developing disease.

I am awaiting feedback from my 1st practicum and will begin the 2nd and final phase of my ND practicum as soon as I receive a grade and feedback. I intend to expand my practice from mostly web based e-commerce, to increasing client consultations, as well as publishing a series of books in the next year. Seminars and speaking engagements are available.

Please, feel free to share my newsletters with your family, friends and colleagues; and check out my web page for healthful tips, as well as following me on Twitter. Thank you for your support.

Keeping stress levels down
It is important to health to keep stress levels to a minimum. Research shows that stress may potentially damage health. Meditation, walking and other forms of moderate exercise, sunshine, yoga, soothing music and pets are a few ways to potentially lower stress, research shows. The next time you feel stressed, deep breathing exercises may potentially help!

Update on my vitiligo

I continue to nourish my vitiligo patches with Anti-Vitiligo Oil, stress relieving techniques, and a diet rich is fresh, live foods. To date, my progress is so phenomenal, that my largest and oldest patch is making great progress, with all of my smaller patches filling in as well.
It seems that leaving the oil on all day, and reapplying the oil at night, to penetrate my skin as I rest and rejuventate overnight, has really stimulated color, along with sunshine daily and constant methods of ensuring my organs are nourished and cleansed.
There is new and exciting research on the immune system and its role in auto-immune and chronic disease that may potentially aid in lowering inflammation and lowering immune responses.
I hope to have my book published by the end of the year and will devote time to explaining how lifestyle, diet and stress relieving changes may potentially aid the quest to restore skin color in those of us who suffer with vitiligo.

Thyroid testing

I always encourage people to test their thyroid. This small metabolic regulator controls so much of what goes on in our bodies, that we need it working properly to ensure potential health and to potentially prevent disease.
Broda Barnes' Basal Temperature Test is easy to perform.
A basal thermometer is shaken down nightly, and placed on the night stand.
Upon awakening; without rising or moving around, place the thermometer in the armpit for a couple of minutes.
Read the temperature and write it down.
Repeat for 5 days.
If the temperature is consistently lower than 97.8 F, you may potentially benefit from a raw thyroid supplement. If the temperature is higher than 98.2, it is potenially in the normal range.
I recommend sharing the basal temperature results with your family doctor, an endocrinologist, or an osteopath who will run a full battery of thyroid tests to further test your thyroid.
Through my many years of research, people with vitiligo, women who are 40 and older and men as well, in today's toxic, high xenoestrogen, low Omega 3 society, should get their thyroids tested for potential dysfunction.
According to IAS,  both clinical and experimental scientific data, strongly support a small daily serving of whole thyroid extract as a dietary supplement can have a wide range of positive influences. Dr. James Isaacs, a cardiovascular surgeon from Baltimore, conducted a  study in 1974 and found that those who took 1/4 grain of thyroid (whole thyroid is measured in grains, 60mg = 1 grain) combined with minerals and vitamins for more than10 years showed significant improvement in cardiovascular-protective function.
The thryoid gland is the mastermind of the body's metabolic processes. A raw thyroid supplement may potentially aid in correcting low thyroid deficiencies.

Positive changes to my vitiligo
For those of you who are using the Anti-Vitiligo Oil, I changed my strategy and started using the oil daily, then I put it on again at night at bedtime, with lavender essential oil mixed in my hand with the anti vit oil, for its potential relaxation and sleep inducing properties. During the day, I mix the oil in my hand with a little peppermint essential oil to give it a nice smell.
I'm seeing a tremendous change in areas that were lighter than my skin, but not necessarily stark white anymore. I'm getting some freckling and some shading. I also noticed that my largest and oldest patch has colored in enough to reduce the size. Remarkable change in a very short amount of time. I have on my reading glasses and I used a magnifying glass just now to really check my spots. I'm very pleased.
For the first time in years, my vit became a little active, showing new dots. Not sure if they were there already, and the tanning I have done bike riding made them more noticeable or what; however, that prompted me to start using the oil aggressively.
It seems to be working well. I try to get sun daily as well. To reiterate, using the oil during the day and again at night, with lavender oil, seems to accelerate color in my skin. Even on my arms where I've just got some slightly lighter skin than my normal skin color, I'm seeing dark freckles showing up.
I've spoken before about a healing crisis that happens sometimes with natural healing. It may get worse, or become active initially, as the melanocytes begin to work their way to the outer layer of the skin. I don't fear a healing crisis and knew to just work through it. Diligence seems to be the key. I keep one bottle of oil on my nightstand and another on my desk, so I'm constantly reminded to use the oil.

Eating Healthy
A glass of water upon awakening; a piece of fresh fruit for breakfast, followed by a smoothie later in the day. A fresh green salad with freshly made olive oil and lemon dressing for lunch and a gluten free pesto pasta for dinner are part of the 10 Day Detoxification Plan that will debut at The Wellness Well very soon.
